The flowers emerge from a dark green or maroon cup like calyx, looking exactly like a tube of vibrant red lipstick being pushed open out of its casing. Called the Orange Lipstick Plant to differentiate it from other Aeschynanthus species because its tubular flowers transition into a bright orange yellow base before opening into a striking scarlet red throat.
